Helping Moms Get Back to the Activities They Love

Our Story

Mountain Mom Strong was born in an effort to bridge the gap between physiotherapy and return to sport.  We are focused on empowering women to take charge of their body throughout their prenatal and postpartum fitness journey.

The Mountain Mom Strong Fitness Collective is a community filled with education, support and guidance on how to prepare for and recover from birth to safely return to fitness and sport.  Our motto is Slow is Fast. Gradually rebuilding strength in the core and pelvic floor is crucial to avoid issues like incontinence, pelvic pain, and abdominal separation. Postpartum bodies are not ready for the same level of activity they were used to before pregnancy, even for athletes and active Moms.

Mountain Mom Strong encourages you to move slowly with intention and purpose, gradually rebuilding a strong foundation to get back to the activities you love, pain and symptom free. Together we will build your physical and mental strength so you can feel empowered in your body and beyond.  Change starts here!

Let's Get Started!

Our Founder,
Sara Niblock

Hi, I’m Sara the Founder and Owner of Mountain Mom Strong!  I’m a mother, athlete, Kinesiologist and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist with over 15 years of experience in the fields of rehabilitation and strength training for Moms.

While there’s plenty of information on newborn care, self-care for mothers in the postpartum period is often overlooked. After years of rehabilitating my body through injuries, I truly learned the value of rehab when I had my child and returned to sports. I knew after years of rushing back from injury, that I needed to take the time to rebuild my foundation so I could come back stronger than ever. I needed to slow down to go fast.

As I connected with more moms, I realized how common injury and pelvic symptoms are after childbirth.  Many shared their struggles not just with returning to the sports they loved but also with everyday activities that come with raising their kids.

Something was missing from postpartum care. These moms weren’t given the guidance they needed to recover and become the badass moms they are, ready for any physical challenge.

I knew something had to change. That's how Mountain Mom Strong came to life.

I believe that no mom should struggle with pain during pregnancy or while returning to fitness and sports postpartum. My mission is to help mothers avoid injuries and frustration, so they can enjoy the activities they love, pain, leak and injury free.

Sara’s Birth Story

My birth experience didn’t go as planned—whose ever does? Initially, I was devastated when I had to undergo an emergency c-section.

My baby was due on October 28th, and I had grand plans to return to snowboarding as quickly as possible. I stayed active and fit throughout my pregnancy, convinced I would breeze through my "rehab" and be back on the slopes in no time.

In hindsight, having a c-section turned out to be the best thing for me. It forced me to slow down and fully focus on my recovery. With layers of tissue cut and my abdominal muscles moved around, there was no quick way to “bounce back.”

Now, I’m grateful for that experience. It taught me the importance of healing with intention and properly restoring my body. At nine months postpartum, I can honestly say I was stronger than I was before I got pregnant.

Many people ask how I got back to riding in the mountains and even competing so quickly. The keys were persistence and consistency. I took the necessary time to recover, then rebuilt from the ground up. I worked closely with a pelvic floor physiotherapist and hired another trainer to provide an extra set of eyes. You’ll learn all my strategies in our Mountain Mom Strong programs.

I recognize that I’m not the norm—I’m highly motivated, educated, and fortunate to have incredible support from my husband and friends.

I’ve watched many moms around me settle into "motherhood" and neglect their own needs. Initially, they managed well when their babies were small, but as their children grew, they began to struggle with pain, withdrew from their favorite activities, and ultimately convinced themselves to wait until they were done having children to get back in shape.

I created these programs so no one has to feel that way. Everyone deserves the support and education needed to return to living their best life.
